Strong acid (pH 2.5) and strong alkaline (pH 11) water have specific benefits but if either gets in the eye it should be treated as a chemical burn and viewed as an ocular emergency. The following treatment should be done IMMEDIATELY!

 1. Copious irrigation of the eyes with water (pH7) for 30 minutes. Do not use acidic water or solutions to neutralize alkalis or vice versa.  

2. Seek care with eye care specialist (Optometrist/Ophthalmologist).
